Hear the Dirk Quinn Band at our second 2019 Music at Marshall

  The Music at Marshall picnic concert series happens annually on the third Thursday of June, July (July 18, 2019), and August. Our second concert features a newcomer to the gazebo. The Music at Marshall picnic concert series happens annually on the third Thursday of June, July, and August. The first concert features The Sin Brothers on Thursday, June 20, 2019. Recap: 2019 Park Cleanup Day

Thank you FMSP members, West Chester Rotary Club, WCU students, and Univest for giving our park an energetic Earth Day morning in April. You spread about 40 yards of mulch, picked up sticks and raked, ate about 40 doughnuts and drank about 5 gallons of coffee and water! Marshall Square Park has never looked so good!  Nor have you❣️ This kind of community effort doesn’t happen with best intentions alone, so pat yourself on the back and mark April 22, 2020—Earth Day’s 50th Anniversary—for another great party! We have a Champion!

It’s official!  Marshall Square Park has a Pennsylvania Champion Tree, a Blue Ash (Fraxinus, quadrangulata). Of this relatively rare species, our specimen is over 90 feet tall. The Blue Ash, mostly native to western Ohio, is so named because early pioneers extracted a blue dye from its inner bark. Champion trees are measured and scored by experts as the largest of their species in our state. A Longwood Gardens team measured our tree. Annual Park Spring Cleanup

Save The Date! SATURDAY, APRIL 27, 2019 8AM to NOON Here’s why … Over the year, our park shows the wear and tear of the good people who use it, of those who just walk through it, and nature. As they walk by, some special people pick up trash and put it in the trash/recycle cans. Borough trucks empty those weekly. However, some users and walkers leave soda bottles/cans, cups, straws, food wrappers, sandwich bags, cigarette packs, tissues, coats, and even socks on the ground. Nature leaves tree branches, twigs, nuts, pine cones, and LEAVES. Our good people don’t do any of …
